Westfield Performing Arts exists to provide enriching and meaningful experiences for all students and create a lifelong appreciation for performing arts.
Mark Sands has been Co-Director of Bands at Westfield High School since 2017, where he co-teaches the school’s three concert bands, and directs the jazz band and pep band. Before becoming a full-time educator, Curtis performed as a euphoniumist regularly with Mr. Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band from Nashville, TN. Curtis holds degrees in music performance and music education from Indiana University, the University of Michigan, and Tennessee Technological University.
Rhonda Adams has been teaching theatre and English at Westfield High School since 1992. During her tenure, Mrs. Adams has directed over 40 plays and over 20 musicals and served on the Adult Executive Board of Indiana Thespians from 1999-2006. She earned a B.S. in Secondary Education in 1991 and an M.S. in Higher Education Student Affairs in 1994 from Indiana University. While at IU, Mrs. Adams appeared in several dinner theatre performances, IU Sing, and performed with the all-campus choir. In 1994 she married her husband Steve, who graduated from IU in 1993 and teaches social studies at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. They have two daughters: Ariana (B.S. IU 2018) and Kyra, who is currently a junior a IU.
Jeffery McLaughlin has been teaching music at Westfield High School since 2008. His main focus is in the general music classes including steel bands, AP music theory, rock ensemble electronic music, piano, music history, and guitar. Born into a musical family, he began playing piano at age 10 and and percussion at age 12 and these remain his primary instruments. After graduating from Anderson Highland High School, He attended Anderson University where he decided to pursue music education and a psychology minor. In addition to university ensembles, he played in a regional rock band FishersNet, his brother singer-songwriter Jon McLaughlin, and singer-songwriter Sarah Scharbrough whom he later married. He and Sarah also traveled and performed with the regional country duo Cook and Belle for five years. Jeff went on to complete a Master's Degree in Percussion performance at Butler University in 2007. During this time, he taught adjunct percussion lessons and classes at Anderson University and Marian University. He and Sarah have 5 children- Soren, Joseph, Ana, Willow and Jane. They attend Grace church in Noblesville where they are involved in worship arts.
Curtis Prichard has been Co-Director of Bands at Westfield High School since 2017, where he co-teaches the school’s three concert bands, and directs the jazz band and pep band. Before becoming a full-time educator, Curtis performed as a euphoniumist regularly with Mr. Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band from Nashville, TN, and earned accolades in various national and international solo competitions. He has appeared as a guest soloist with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra, the Tennessee Tech Symphony Band, and the Indiana University Wind Ensemble. Curtis is also in demand as a conductor and educator, working with ensembles such as the Indianapolis Symphonic Band, the Brass Band at Indiana University, the Brown County Community Band, and the Crossroads Brass Band. Curtis holds degrees in music performance and music education from Indiana University, the University of Michigan, and Tennessee Technological University. Curtis is a member of the Jazz Education Network, the Indiana Jazz Education Association, and the Indiana Bandmasters Association. In addition to music, Curtis enjoys spending time with his wife Abby and their two dogs, and riding his bike.
Alison Wessel has been choir director at Westfield High School since 2004. She earned a B.S. in Music Education from Ball State University and a Masters of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. While at Ball State, Alison studied piano with Dr. Robert Palmer and voice with Mr. John Meadows. She was a member of Ball State Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, and Women’s Chorus. She accompanied the Chamber Choir and many voice students. Alison is dedicated to helping all of her students reach their musical potential and experience the joy of singing in a choir. Alison is a member of Indiana Choral Directors Association, Indiana Music Educators Association, and serves on the Vocal Jazz committee for ISSMA. Outside of school, Alison enjoys being with her family. She has been married to her husband, Scott, since 1996. They have two children, Lily and Austin.
Jon Majors joined the Westfield High School department in 2017. As Auditorium Director his primary duties include designing and coordinating lights and sound for every event held in the Auditorium including plays, musicals, recitals, meetings, concerts among many others. Before coming to Westfield High School he maintained similar positions at Warren Central High School and Avon High School. During the 2015 season he was on production staff for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Yuletide Celebration production, and became the orchestra’s Artistic Coordinator. Jon is a 2013 graduate of The University of Indianapolis having studied Music Performance. Jon is fortunate to be able to perform with several Indianapolis-area bands including the Indianapolis Wind Symphony, Indianapolis Brass Choir, and regular performs in several high school musical pit orchestras. Jon is married to his wife Carolyn.
