WWS Updates August 7, 2020
Rocks - Happy Friday!
We are looking forward to welcoming back all of our students next week - virtually or in person. To prepare you, we have compiled a comprehensive, one-stop-shop document that provides as many plans and details as we have at this time. While we don’t want to overwhelm you, we do want to try and address as many questions as possible. Click here to view the document on our website. Thank you to the amazing team of district and building leaders who have worked tirelessly to pull together this plan, which puts the health and safety of our students and staff at the forefront!
To help welcome you back, Parent University has created an amazing virtual event - WWS Parent University Back to School Virtual Experience - and it’s located on the Parent University website. Click here to view the PU virtual experience. You won't want to miss these informative videos featuring a welcome back message from WWS leaders, supportive tips and ideas from our WWS counseling team, ways to connect to WWS resources, engagement opportunities, community resources and much more! Be sure to check it out! It’s live now!
Starting next week, we will resume our normal monthly newsletters and communicate updates as needed. Other important updates are below. See you next week!
Gold - Green next week ONLY. Reminder: School begins on Thursday, August 13. On this date, the Gold Team (A-K) will go in-person on Thursday, August 13, while the Green Team (L-Z) will do virtual learning that day. On Friday, August 14, the Green Team will go in-person and the Gold team will be virtual. Here is the schedule after the first week of school.
*The week of Labor Day the Gold/Green schedule is also modified. See calendar.
PowerSchool - The current plan is for PowerSchool to open this Saturday, August 8, 9 am. PowerSchool is the software program WWS uses to track attendance and grading. Once open, you will be able to see class schedules and teacher assignments.
Transportation - Bus routes will be available on our website under Departments > Transportation starting August 10th.
Childcare Update - We realize that many families are struggling to find childcare and we want to help! Our all-day BAC/Zone 58 programs filled up quickly but we are exploring alternative options. We are working with local churches and the YMCA to explore alternative childcare options for WWS families. If you would like to be added to the BAC/Zone 58 waiting list, please email MyChild@wws.k12.in.us.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Each building and department is in the process of establishing an equity team. We will also be forming an equity team through Parent University. A member from each of these teams will serve on the WWS district equity team. We will also round out our district equity team with representation from our community. Members for the district equity team will be identified by the end of August.
Technology Updates - Parents may have received communications from the schools regarding technology (computer/devices), including how to request devices, specifications for bring-your-own, and password information. If you have not received such a message, you can check out the details by various grade levels here.
