Air Quality Reports

Westfield Intermediate School (future site of Westfield Elementary School)

In October 2025, WWS commissioned a series of air quality tests for WIS, the future site of WES. Testing occurred at various points in the building as well as outside.

  • The mold report indicates clean conditions and concluded that "results were well within the acceptable range for a normal or non-impacted indoor environment."
  • The carbon monoxide test took three samples, all of which reported CO levels of 0 ppm.

Below you can access the reports in full as well as recent maintenance work order records:

Regarding asbestos concerns: Initially no responsive records were available, as the original 1962 school building was demolished during the 2000–2001 reconstruction. Because asbestos was banned in 1973, it was not used in the 1988 addition or in the new building completed in 2000–2001. In the spirit of transparency, the school district ordered the above test in November 2025.

Westfield Middle School

In October 2025, WWS commissioned a series of air quality tests for WMS. Testing occurred at various points in the building as well as outside.

  • The mold report revealed "extremely low levels of airborne mold spores... which are the desired outcomes of the testing" and concluded that "results were within the acceptable range for a normal or non-impacted indoor environment."
  • The carbon monoxide test took three samples, all of which reported CO levels of 0 ppm.
  • A single caulking sample in a back locker-room area tested positive for asbestos. It is located between precast concrete ceiling panels. The material is non-friable, meaning it is stable and cannot release fibers unless power tools are used to cut or grind it. It cannot be disturbed by normal student or staff activity and poses no health risk.  The location of the caulk is not easily accessible to students or staff. This material will be professionally removed during future renovations and disposed of properly, following all required safety protocols.
