Carrie grew up in a military family, attending schools in five states before graduating from high school in Montgomery, Alabama. After her father retired from the Air Force and returned to Indiana to manage the family farm, she earned undergraduate degrees in Human Resource Management and Mathematics Education from Ball State University and a Master’s in School Counseling from Indiana University.

She began her career teaching math in Henry County before joining Westfield Washington Schools as a math teacher at Westfield Middle School. After earning her counseling degree, she became a counselor at WMS and later at Westfield High School, retiring in 2020. At WHS, she served as AP Coordinator and became a College Board consultant in 2018. She continues as a consultant and AP Coordinator Advisory Council member, supporting educators and students.

Carrie and her husband, Jeff, have four Westfield High School graduate children and nine grandchildren, three of whom attend or will attend Westfield schools.

A dedicated community member, she has served with the Westfield Wellbeing Coalition, Heart and Soul Clinic Guild, and is currently Vice President for Special Projects at Open Doors, where she has volunteered for over 20 years. She is also an active member of the Westfield Lions Club. She was honored as the 2023 Westfield Lion of the Year and received the Westfield Chamber Community Volunteer Award of Distinction for her dedication to supporting the community.

When asked what she looks most forward to as a member of the Board of School Trustees, Carrie said, "Even though I am retired from Westfield schools, my passion for ensuring that students and teachers have the best learning and working environment is strong.  It was an honor to be a staff member of one of the best school corporations in Indiana for 30 years, and I look forward to continuing to serve the school and community as a member of the board."
