Jimmy Cox, Board Member

Jimmy Cox was elected to his first term on the school board in November 2020. Jimmy and his wife moved to Westfield in 2015 because of the strong school system. When he moved to the community, Jimmy immediately sought out ways to get involved. His mentality is “If you’re going to be part of a community, you have a responsibility to give back to that community.”

Since moving to Westfield, Jimmy has gotten involved in city government, Westfield Youth Assistance, the chamber of commerce, and St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church where he and his wife attend. He served on the Westfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, is a member of the city's Redevelopment Authority, and volunteers for his church's college student outreach program. Jimmy volunteered for a year and a half as a mentor for youth assistance and this was his first volunteer role in Westfield. Outside of the community, he volunteers for his fraternity and a local non-profit called College Mentors for Kids.

Jimmy’s professional background is in higher education and student affairs where he has over 10 years of experience. He currently works at Purdue University in the alumni office serving as the Director, Student-Alumni Programs. In this role he manages student programs, recent graduate initiatives, alumni relations for fraternities, sororities, and cooperative houses, and oversees the welcome center. Jimmy graduated from Purdue University in 2009 with a dual BA in political science and history and from Indiana University in 2013 with an MS in higher education and student affairs.

When not volunteering or working, Jimmy and his wife enjoy time with family and friends, especially their two Golden Retrievers.
