WWS Updates - Apr 13, 2020
We hope you had an enjoyable spring break and were able to spend some quality time with your families! This unprecedented period comes with many unanswered questions such as graduation plans, kindergarten registration, locker clean-out, summer BAC and so many more. I want to assure our Rocks families that the WWS team is working hard to provide answers to these questions. This situation is constantly evolving so we pledge to get you answers as promptly as possible. Please continue to check for updates via our regular messages and/or also by checking our Frequently Asked Questions document on our website.
The WWS administrative team, principals and COVID-19 response team have been meeting (virtually) to discuss the learning plans for the remainder of the school year. As you know, we have a solid learning plan until May 1 and those plans remain unchanged. For the remainder of the school year, the schedule will continue with the same pattern, using Monday and Friday as waiver days (no student lessons/teacher planning day) and Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday as eLearning days. However, the final day of learning for students will now be Thursday, May 14 (instead of Friday, May 22). This schedule aligns with the state-mandated 160 days of learning, and provides additional time for teachers to finalize year-end activities.
Below is the learning plan for May 4 - May 22.
May 4 - 8
Monday, May 4 - Waiver day - no student lessons - teacher planning day
Tuesday, May 5 - eLearning day
Wednesday, May 6 - eLearning day
Thursday, May 7 - eLearning day
Friday, May 8 - Waiver day - no student lessons - teacher planning day
May 11 - 15
Monday, May 11 - Waiver day - no student lessons - teacher planning day
Tuesday, May 12 - eLearning day
Wednesday, May 13 - eLearning day
Thursday, May 14 - eLearning day (last day for students)
Friday, May 15 - Waiver day - no student lessons - teacher planning day
Here is a graphic with the complete learning plan through the remainder of the year.
You will be receiving communication from your school(s) with eLearning details for the upcoming weeks. As always, please reach out to your student’s teacher with any questions or concerns. If you need a device, broadband access, or technology support, please call 317.867.8087, Monday - Friday, 9am - 8pm.
One of the most frequently asked questions is - when can my student pick up items in his/her locker? We understand this concern. We are working on a plan to allow you/your student to get back in the building once the Governor’s stay-home order is lifted. School nurses will be in touch shortly with the families that have student medicine in the clinics.
Thank you for your continued flexibility, support and cooperation during this challenging time. WE ARE SHAMROCKS and we will get through this together!
Stay healthy and ROCK ON!!!
