WWS Updates - Apr 24, 2020

  • Weekly Update - April 24, 2020

Changes in Grading for the 2019-20 School Year

Not surprisingly, grading during this extended closure is very different from a traditional classroom setting.  Due to that, and based on much internal discussion and feedback, as well as guidance from the Indiana Department of Education, WWS is adjusting student grading protocols. Additional detail will be provided before report cards are issued.

Grades K-2 -  Teachers are currently focused on the most essential standards, and those are what teachers will be providing feedback on student’s third trimester report cards.

Grades 3-4 - For the third trimester, WWS is suspending the use of letter grades and will utilize the following: S+, S, S- =Satisfactory, N+, N, N- =Needs Improvement, U=Unsatisfactory

Grades K-4 Specials - For the third trimester, teachers will use Complete or Incomplete based on percentage of work completed instead of S, N, or U.

    Grades 5-8 - Year-long courses

Letter grades will be used for the 4th quarter. As always, if your student is having challenges, please reach out to the classroom teacher.

    Grades 5-8 Quarterly classes

For the fourth quarter, letter grades will not be used, and students will receive a Complete or Incomplete based on work completed.

Grades 9-12 & WMS Courses for High School Credit

The Indiana Department of Education requires students earn a grade in order to earn a high school credit toward graduation requirements. Therefore, students will still earn letter grades for each course. Third trimester grades will be 100% of the student grade in the course and will not have a final exam that has typically been 20% of the final trimester grade.
