WWS Updates - June 5, 2020
I want to sincerely thank all the families who responded to my message on Tuesday. I appreciate reading and hearing the heartfelt stories and ideas about how best to move forward in a more equitable and inclusive way while approaching these conversations with an open mind. It is vital we hear all voices - parents, students, staff, and our community as a whole. While it is always extremely difficult to hear about racism, exclusivity and injustice, I am confident that we can learn, grow, and fight together to positively and productively stand up against injustice, racism and inequity.
Today we received a 38-page document of school reopening guidelines from the Indiana Department of Education. With this guidance now in hand, we can use this information to purposefully plan our return this fall. Our team is working to ensure our plans meet these guidelines, and our goal is to have a detailed return plan to announce in the coming weeks!
Stay flexible and stay tuned!

We are moving forward with kindergarten assessments this summer. Our team is currently working on those details. We will be providing that information within the next couple weeks. Stay tuned!
Grades are Final
You can check out your student’s grades in the PowerSchool app.
We want your input! The link below will take you to a survey asking about your family’s experience with eLearning, the impact of the pandemic, and thoughts on the reopening of school for next school year. The survey will be open until Monday, June 15, and should take no longer than 10 minutes. Please disregard if you have already submitted your responses!
Please share your thoughts and concerns as we prepare to welcome your student back to WWS buildings. Thank you for your help!

Song from SSES 3rd grader
Incoming Shamrock Springs 3rd grader Avery Trieu created song lyrics during quarantine about staying strong in hard times. She asked her aunt and uncle, who are professional musicians in NYC, to write music for it. The song, called Bravery, is now complete. Her aunt is the lead singer and Avery is featured at the end of the song, and the lyrics are 100% Avery's. Her other uncle, Cullen Webster, is a PE teacher at the Intermediate School and participated, as well. WTHR-13 covered the story earlier this week. You can watch the video for the song here -
#INTHISTOGETHER SHIRTS - Available
Great news - you can still get your #INTHISTOGETHER shirt! To help build community spirit, any resident of Westfield can purchase an #INTHISTOGETHER shirt for $7! This is not a fundraiser - just a way to come together and show support!
