The WHS Mock Trial Team participates in the Hamilton County Bar Association’s Mock Trial competition. Students, through participation, will experience what it is like to prepare for and present a case before a judge. Working with the school coach, Brittan Kinn (kinnb@wws.k12.in.us), and an attorney that currently practices law, Bryan Findley, students will learn to evaluate information and respond quickly to case material and cross examination questions. The greatest opportunity for students is to learn how the American legal system works. By studying and understanding courtroom procedure, students become more comfortable with federal and state laws as part of our legal system. Student interaction with some of Indiana’s finest attorneys and judges will give kids a glimpse of the different interpretations of a court trial and the different approaches of individuals in the legal arena.
